Why a Brand Guideline
The purpose of a visual identity is to translate our values, vision, key messages, ambitions and culture into design that communicates who we are. It is a way to create a unified language that supports our daily business and future ambitions. It aims to encompass all people working within Norin or interacts with the Norin brand - as well as differentiates Norin against other businesses.
This guide for the visual identity of Norin will ensure that a coherent visual identity of Norin is communicated throughout the visual materials and across platforms.
The visual identity should be followed:
• When communicating on any platform, such as print, web, PowerPoint, etc.
• When developing new communication materials or revising existing materials.
Which visual elements are available:
• The Norin logo / Logo Mark
• Colours
• Typography
• Graphic elements
These elements are described in this guide. Wrongful use of the elements of the visual identity will diminish the recognition and subsequently the value of the Norin brand.
Main Logo
The main logo is the logotype by itself without the brandmark and the additional descriptive text.
Use of the logo on coloured surfaces
To ensure good readability and that the logo does not disappear, use the logo in one of the profile colors with sufficient contrast.
The Logo Mark
The logo mark consists of the "n" from the logo placed inside a circle. The brand can be used in many ways, for example on merch, office supplies and as a symbol on various social media platforms. The logo mark should never be placed near the main logo.
Minimal Logo Size
Below is a recommendation of minimal sizes. Avoid making them smaller than this, as they will become illegible.
Clear Space
The logo must have a distance around it that is at least equal to the x-height of the lettering in the logo.
The logo mark must have a distance around it that is at least half the height/width of the icon itself.
Typography
Fonts
Typography plays an important role in communicating an overall tone and quality. Careful use of typography reinforces our personality and ensures clarity and harmony in all our communications.
The FF Karbid family consists of several different fonts. The Norin logo is based on Karbid Display so it should not be used. Karbid Pro and Karbid Text, on the other hand, are two good fonts that harmonize well with the visual profile of Norin. Karbid Pro is used in smaller amounts of text with large font sizes such as titles. Karbid Text is used in large amounts of text and where the font size is small.
FF Karbid is available on Adobe Typekit and on https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontfont/ff-karbid/

Colours
Colour plays an important role in the Norins identity program.
A palette of primary colours has been developed (Ocean and Sky Blue) and secondary colours (Earth Green and Sunny Yellow).
Consistent use of these colours will contribute to the cohesive and harmonious look of the Norin-brand identity across all relevant media.
